Brentwood swears in two new police officers
Summary
The Brentwood Board of Commissioners administered the oath of office to two new Brentwood Police Department officers and heard short introductions to their backgrounds and upcoming training.
The Brentwood Board of Commissioners administered the oath of office to two new Brentwood Police Department officers, Riley Lassiter and Aaron Yoder, during its regular meeting. Mayor Andrews led the swearing-in.
Both officers were introduced by the police chief, who said the officers were hired together and will attend the department's transition academy in September. The chief noted both performed well during firearms training: “they both shot higher than I did,” he said.
Riley Lassiter introduced family members in the chamber and the chief told the commission Lassiter is originally from Eider, Alabama, holds an associate degree in science from Northeast Alabama Community College and previously served about two years with the Rainesville Police Department. The chief said Lassiter is scheduled to attend the transition academy in September.
Aaron Yoder also introduced family members. The chief said Yoder joined the department in July, is originally from Elkhart, Indiana, is working toward a bachelor’s degree in sports and health sciences at American Military University, served eight years in the U.S. Army and worked as a training sergeant with the Veterans Affairs Police before joining Brentwood. Yoder is likewise scheduled to attend the transition academy in September.
Mayor Andrews administered the statutory oath used by the city. The commission and attendees welcomed the officers.
