Haslet council awards $1.25 million water-tank contract, approves Freeman Toyota plat and updates budget; parks appointments confirmed

The Haslet City Council on Oct. 20 voted to award a $1,247,840 contract to Tank Builders Incorporated to supply and install a 1,000,000-gallon welded-steel ground storage tank for the FM 156 pump station, approved the final plat for the Freeman Toyota development and amended the fiscal-year budget to reflect property-tax revenue under the council27s adopted rate.

The council also confirmed reappointments and a new appointment to the Parks and Recreation Board and approved a consent agenda of routine items. All recorded votes on these items were unanimous.

The water-tank contract

Council awarded the contract to Tank Builders Incorporated, the only bidder for the tank, for a total recommended award of $1,247,840. The amount includes a 10 percent contingency (listed in the staff memo as $113,000) to cover possible changes tied to foundation design and site conditions. Staff told the council shop-drawing review and fabrication should take about 221/2 to 3 months, with the tank expected to arrive toward the end of spring, after the site contractor prepares the foundation.
