Council proclaims "Built Like Noah L Day"; family describes legacy of service and kindness

Mason City Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2025-21 on Oct. 13, designating the fourth Friday in October as "Built Like Noah L Day" to honor the life and community service of Lance Corporal Noah T. Lippitt.
City staff and members of the Board of Veterans Affairs introduced the measure and invited Noah's family to the podium. Tara Lippitt, Noah’s mother, told the council that Noah was a 2021 graduate of Mason High School, served as the Mason High School mascot Cosmo the Comet, and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 2023. She said Noah died in June 2024 and described his character as rooted in faith, kindness and service. She and the family have formed the Lance Corporal Noah T. Lippitt Foundation to continue his charitable work.
The resolution recognizes Noah’s service and asks the community to observe the day through acts of kindness and participation in a set of daily challenges endorsed by the council spanning Oct. 24–31. Council members participating in the meeting spoke in support of the proclamation and thanked the family for sharing Noah’s story.
Resolution 2025-21 was adopted after council suspended the normal rule to allow adoption on first reading. Council then posed for a group photo with Noah’s family.
