Silver Creek board approves consent items, policies and school calendar; several motions carried unanimously

Minutes from the Aug. 12 regular meeting, an Aug. 12 work session and an Aug. 19 executive session were approved by voice vote and recorded as carrying 3-0. The consent agenda — covering finance items and a slate of personnel appointments, resignations, leaves and terminations — was approved on a motion and recorded as 3-0.
The board approved the second reading of 24 policies that the administration had identified as needing updates after state legislative changes that took effect July 1. The superintendent said there were no recommended changes since the first reading and recommended approval; the vote on the second reading was recorded as 3-0.
After discussion of three calendar options and presentations of staff survey results (62% participation), the board adopted Calendar Option 1 — which begins in early August and includes observed holidays for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Presidents Day — by majority of members present. The record does not include a final roll-call tally for that item; the board stated the motion was approved by the majority of the quorum present.
Separately, the board heard from Silver Creek Academy of Finance seniors seeking approval for an annual trip to New York City. Student representative Quinn Wheatley told the board, “We are here this evening to seek approval for the Silver Creek Academy of Finance seniors annual trip to New York City.” The administration later thanked the board for approving the field trip and noted fundraising plans; each student is expected to pay $2,100 and the proposed trip dates are April 22–25, 2026.
Most routine motions were approved without extended debate and the meeting proceeded to other agenda items, including building reports and recognitions.
