Drainage trustees approve multiple invoices and contracts; questions raised about duplicate invoice motions

The Wright County Board of Supervisors, sitting as drainage trustees, approved drainage claims and signed nine invoices for drainage-related work and publications.
Courtney (clerk) outlined the invoices: a $20.72 mailing for a DD62 public hearing notice; a $168 publication cost for a joint district notice (Webster County share); brush-and-weed-control contracts paid to a contractor for DD5 ($2,150) and DD7 ($3,350); multiple smaller brush-control invoices (two at $250 each); a DD3 invoice for $6,500; a Soil & Septic LLC work order for Drainage District 106 totaling $8,282.81; and a $217.70 charge from Wright County Secondary Roads for drone work over DD5.
Trustees approved the invoices by consensus (voice vote) and signed the claims. A trustee asked why the board both approves payment now and again when warrants are issued; staff clarified that while the invoices are presented now for signature and awareness, trustees do not need to make duplicate motions at the next meeting—they will simply sign the warrants when presented.
Earlier in the drainage segment, trustees also approved a $487.50 invoice from Nynemaster for joint drainage district 111-3 related to a petition; a motion to approve that invoice carried. The minutes for the drainage trustees’ prior meeting (read into the record) were noted as the Aug. 11, 2025 minutes.
Trustees confirmed there were no drainage work orders requiring approval that week.
