Arvada council approves consent contracts, advances four land-use ordinances to public hearing 7-0

At its Aug. 5 meeting the Arvada City Council unanimously approved two contract amendments on the consent agenda and approved first reading of four land-development ordinances, scheduling a public hearing for Aug. 19.
The Arvada City Council voted 7-0 on Aug. 5 to approve the consent agenda and to advance four ordinances on first reading to a public hearing set for Aug. 19 at 6:15 p.m.
Consent agenda: Council approved two resolution items on the consent agenda as follows:
- R25-062: Authorized Amendment No. 1 to the agreement between the City of Arvada and Saunders Construction LLC for pre-construction services related to the police department evidence and storage building project (phase 2 general contracting services). The amendment increases the contract by an amount not to exceed $340,000, bringing the total contract cap to an amount not to exceed $8,356,000. The consent motion to accept the consent agenda was made by Council member Ambrose and passed 7-0.
- R25-063: Authorized Change Order No. 8 to the agreement between the City of Arvada and Mueller Engineering Company Inc. for professional engineering design services for West 70 Second Avenue between Kipling Street and Simms Street. Change Order No. 8 is for an amount not to exceed $810,295, increasing the total contract cap to an amount not to exceed $5,666,961. Included in the consent vote; passed 7-0.
First reading and publication: On first reading the council approved, ordered published in full and set a public hearing for Aug. 19 at 6:15 p.m. for the following ordinances (motion made by Mayor Pro Tem):
- CB25-16: Ordinance submitting proposed amendments to Section 8.2 of the Arvada Charter to the registered electors at the Nov. 4, 2025 regular municipal election; sets ballot titles (first reading approved 7-0).
- CB25-17: Ordinance authorizing a fourth amendment to the development agreement pertaining to vested rights for Cimarron Park (first reading approved 7-0).
- CB25-18: Ordinance authorizing a third amendment to the development agreement pertaining to vested rights for Beaumont (first reading approved 7-0).
- CB25-19: Ordinance amending various provisions of Arvada’s Land Development Code (first reading approved 7-0).
All votes were recorded as 7 to 0; individual roll-call names were not read into the meeting record during the vote acknowledgement.
