Bonner County commissioners approved a $59,200 contract to replace the metal roof, fascia and drip edge on the District 1 Road & Bridge shop, awarding the work to Northridge Property Management LLC.
Jason Tops, Road and Bridge district staff, described the existing roof as old, rusted and leaking and said the department solicited two quotes. Tops recommended awarding to Northridge, the low bidder, and proposed two funding sources: $19,000 from account 27430 (repairs/maintenance) and $27,930 from account 28430 (crushed rock savings), with the remainder from the road budget as needed. Tops said the larger, full‑scope repair (roof, fascia and drip edge) is more cost‑effective and would extend service life. He said a two‑year warranty would cover the metal and the additional work.
Commissioners discussed cost and scope and concluded the full $59,200 package was appropriate. The motion to approve the contract passed on roll call; commissioners noted about $150,000 remains in the crushed rock budget to cover the additional cost if needed. There was no public opposition during the meeting.
