The Overland Park Public Works Committee voted 5-0 to recommend City Council approval of Change Order No. 1 to the 2025 Street Improvement Project (concrete repairs), MR 3096, with Sunflower Paving Inc. The change order adds work at multiple locations and increases the contract by $338,944.95 for a total not to exceed $3,538,705.
Becky, a city public works staff member, told the committee the original contract with Sunflower Paving Inc. was executed in May and that the bids came in under the annual curb and sidewalk replacement budget. Staff proposed adding two additional locations to use remaining maintenance funds: Pinehurst Estates and Brookridge West (90th between Antioch and Lamar), and Fox Hill Office Park (east of Roe and north of College Boulevard). Becky said the Fox Hill Office Park location is a “pretty active office park.”
Becky said the change order amount is $338,944.95, and that the revised contract ceiling would be $3,538,705. Committee members asked no substantive follow-up questions during the presentation.
Committee member Mr. Patrician moved the recommendation and Ms. Grumert seconded. The committee approved the motion by voice vote, 5-0. The recommendation will proceed to the City Council for final approval and contract execution if approved.
