Resident raises concerns about dog control hearing; commissioners promise follow-up

During the citizen input portion of the Aug. 13 meeting, a resident who identified himself as Jason, a member of the Michael Winter family, spoke about a pending case before the county dog control board and asked for a fair hearing before any animals are euthanized.
“My name is Jason. I am part of Michael Winter’s family. I would like to bring to the attention of the board that the hearing was very unfair of the family, and we would just would like to have a fair hearing before our dogs are euthanized. I think I don't think that's too much to ask,” he said.
A commissioner acknowledged receipt of the email and other information the county had received and said the board would not take further action during the meeting but that staff and the board would follow up. The chair said he would follow up personally after the meeting and invited Jason to contact the commission office; Jason said his phone number was on file with the commission.
No formal action or vote on the dog control matter occurred during the meeting; the exchange was recorded as a public comment and follow-up was promised by county staff or commissioners.
