Officials say Seaside encampment will move this summer; neighboring towns may see an influx

"We're gonna be moving the camp, and Seaside, c CCA, Consecuring Action, is gonna be running it, and it's gonna be moved at the July, August. So far, we got maybe 5 to 10 people that wanna go. There's been a lot of resistance from the people who are staying there," said Speaker 3, Outreach worker.
Outreach staff said the site being moved is outside Seaside city limits; Seaside's city enforcement of its camping ordinance remains in place for areas inside the city. The outreach worker said some people displaced from other coastal cities have already moved to nearby towns.
"I know some people from Astoria have also gone over to Warrenton now since Astoria is really strict on their ordinance," the outreach worker added.
Why it matters: moving an encampment can be disruptive for residents and service providers. The outreach worker flagged a risk that stricter enforcement in one city may shift camping to neighboring jurisdictions, creating service needs elsewhere.
