Peachtree Corners council adopts FY25 budget amendment; approves three city contracts, hears first readings on two special-use permits

The Peachtree Corners City Council approved an ordinance to adopt an amended fiscal year 2025 operating budget and approved three consent-agenda contract authorizations during its city meeting.
Finance staff told the council the amendment was required after a fiscal-year transaction tied to subscription-based information-technology arrangements triggered a governmental accounting journal entry. “The result of that transaction, we had to increase revenue by 427,000, and we also had to book an expense for 427,000,” said Mister Sally, a city staff member presenting the budget summary. The amendment was described as netting to zero because the additional revenue and expense offset one another; auditors recommended the budget amendment.
Councilors held a public hearing on the ordinance; no members of the public spoke for or against the amendment. Councilman Saad moved to approve the ordinance at second reading, Councilman Sawyer seconded, and the motion passed by voice vote.
On the consent agenda the council authorized the city manager to execute three agreements: a stormwater on-call construction agreement, a paving agreement for the Curiosity Lab campus, and an HVAC agreement for 147 A Technology Parkway. Councilwoman Douglas moved approval of the consent agenda; Councilwoman Crist seconded and the motion passed.
The council also heard first readings for two land-use items: a request to modify conditions of special-use permits SUP2020-001 and SUP2020-07-171 for an assisted-living facility at 356 Research Court (District 6, Land Lot 285), and a special-use permit request for a tattoo studio at 3435 Medlock Bridge Road, Suite 205 (District 6, Land Lot 286). Those items were introduced at first reading; no final action was recorded at this meeting.
The mayor was absent; before adjourning the council recessed to a brief executive session “for the purposes of litigation,” the city manager said, and no vote was planned after the executive session. The meeting record shows the executive-session motion passed on a motion by Councilman Saad and a second by Councilwoman Douglas.
