Rome — At its Sept. 9 meeting, the City of Rome Planning Board approved a two‑lot minor subdivision for Lake Delta Improvement Corporation and issued a negative environmental declaration for the project located at 6801 Golf Course Road.
The action covers three related agenda items: the public hearing on the subdivision, environmental review and the final minor subdivision approval. Mike Waters, representing Lake Delta Improvement Corporation, told the board the applicant seeks to divide the property into two lots “They've got 2 lots that they wanna sell off the property. Simple. There's a house on 1. There's a — it's an empty lot on another,” Waters said.
Community and Economic Development staff reported the proposed parcel dimensions comply with zoning minimums but noted wetlands are present on one parcel. “Proposed parcel dimensions are compliant with zoning code minimums. There's wetlands present on 1 of the project parcels. Doesn't impact the ability for the parcel to be subdivided, but the applicant, seeks to do further development of the parcel in the future. It may impact, the ability for them to do that,” a staff member said, recommending an uncoordinated negative declaration and approval of the subdivision as presented.
Board members asked only clarifying questions about the site layout; one board member confirmed the house sits on the corner lot where Teague Point Road and Golf Course Road meet and that the other lot is vacant. After the staff recommendation, a board member moved to issue the environmental negative declaration and another seconded the motion. The board voted unanimously to issue the negative declaration and to approve the two‑lot minor subdivision.
The board did not record individual roll‑call votes in the meeting transcript. Further procedural steps after planning board approval — such as final plat recording or permits required before building — were not specified during the meeting.
