Elkhart Fire Merit Commission approves self-demotion and three promotions

Summer also announced three promotions the department will pin at a later ceremony: Andrew Blue to traveling driver operator effective Sept. 10; Nick Hentz to division chief of Skills Proficiency effective Sept. 2; and Kenny Roth to battalion chief effective Aug. 26.
The commission approved each personnel action by motion and voice vote. For the self-demotion, a commissioner moved to approve Chelsea Antonelli’s self-demotion and another commissioner seconded; the commission voted “aye” with no opposition. The promotions were moved and seconded individually and each was approved by voice vote; the record shows the chair called for each vote and members said “aye.”
The promotions were announced by Assistant Chief Summer and the commission voted to record the personnel changes; the ceremony to pin the promoted members will occur at a later date, according to Summer’s announcement.
