The City of Muskogee City Council approved a preliminary and final plat for Harris Village subdivision and separately approved an ordinance rezoning the same property from A-1 (agricultural) to Planned Unit Development (PUD) to allow for adjusted lot sizes and setbacks.
Planning staff said the subdivision, located on E. Harris Road in the Country Club area east of York Street, will provide new housing options intended for individuals and families wishing to retire within the city. Miss Sarah Winkle told the council the development will have a maximum building height of two-and-a-half stories (35 feet) and an average dwelling size of about 2,000 square feet excluding garages.
Winkle said lot sizes under the PUD will be approximately 5,600 square feet; setbacks proposed under the PUD are 10-foot front, 5-foot side, 10-foot street-side and 10-foot rear, as opposed to the standard R-1 setbacks. The development will add two fire hydrants to serve the addition.
Staff recommended approval of both the plat and the rezone ordinance (Ordinance No. 4269A for the PUD). The council closed the public hearings, moved and seconded approval motions, and approved the plat and the rezone by roll call. One abstention was recorded on the plat vote.
