The Quabbin Regional School District School Committee voted to accept the superintendent’s evaluation for the 2023–24 school year and to support the framework of draft superintendent goals for the coming year.
Chairman Brophy presented a summary of the evaluation results and several committee members praised the superintendent’s leadership and collaboration. Committee members noted written comments commending improved town outreach, staff relationships, and program development.
The committee then reviewed the superintendent’s proposed goals. The superintendent described five primary priorities: improving stakeholder communication (a target of 95% stakeholder awareness/satisfaction by June 2026), promoting a safe and supportive district culture with a focus on reducing disproportional discipline and increasing positive behavior, reducing course failure rates and supporting differentiated learning, reviewing and aligning course offerings (including Chapter 74 possibilities), and maintaining budget stability during a challenging fiscal outlook.
Members discussed measurement methods: surveys, focus groups, student data review teams, and building walkthroughs. The committee moved, seconded and approved accepting the evaluation and supporting the goals framework; administration asked for feedback and said final goal metrics would be returned for committee review.
The superintendent emphasized these draft goals are intended for collaborative refinement and will be finalized in the months ahead.
