A representative of the Blount County Education Association addressed the board during the public-comment portion of the Sept. 1 meeting, urging continued collaboration between the association, board members and central office staff.
Speaking for the association, Miss Rebecca thanked the board and district leaders and said BCA is “committed to sitting at the table with you, collaborating in good faith, and working towards solutions that keep our students at the center.” She encouraged board members to visit schools across the district, saying school visits are “one of the best ways to see the amazing things our students are doing.”
Why it matters: The association’s remarks emphasize the union’s interest in ongoing communication with board leadership and school visits as a means to build trust and stay informed about school needs.
Next steps: No board action was taken in response to the comment; the association asked for continued engagement.
