Chelsea School Committee approves multiple contracts, grants and budget items in routine votes

The committee also accepted the following awards and allocations by roll-call vote: a $500 award from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for the performing arts department; a FY25/FY26 allocation of $1,145,451.62 covering adult education, family services, social-emotional learning and related supports; a federal grant allocation for FY25–FY26 in the amount of $7,072,005.07; a private grant award of $115,000 for FY25–FY26; and other fiscal items listed in the meeting enclosure. Those motions passed by roll call, typically with eight or nine affirmative votes and one absence as recorded in the meeting.
Other approved items included an end-of-year budget cleanup transfer for FY2025, approval of the early employee wage schedule for the 2025–26 school year, approval of three homeschool petitions covering three students for 2025–26 and authorization of an overnight field trip for two Chelsea High School students and six chaperones to Washington, D.C., October 21–24, 2025, to participate in a learning excursion for schools serving multilingual learners. Each of those items was adopted by roll call with the tally shown in the official minutes.
