FCCLA students and adviser report national competition placements; board praises program

Amy Marasco, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) adviser at Southeast Polk High School, updated the board on student competition results from the national FCCLA conference.
Marasco said the chapter qualified students for national competition through online challenges and judged events. She reported that Mackenzie placed fourth in the nation for a freshman "star" event and earned 14th in a skill interview category; two other students, Jennifer and Patricia, placed 11th and 8th respectively in online challenge competition fields. Marasco said the chapter is "small but mighty" and emphasized leadership, community service and career skill-building.
Board members thanked Marasco and accompanying parents for their leadership and for managing travel logistics during a conference that, she said, involved more than 10,000 students in Orlando.
No board action was required; the report was informational.
