The superintendent of the Evesham Township School District reported to the Board of Education that summer programs served about 800 students, the district completed extensive facilities work and the district added 38 new staff appointments this summer.
"I'd like to acknowledge the amazing work by all our staff involved in our summer programs, which serve about 800 students across our extended school year program," the superintendent said. The superintendent credited the Special Services Department, curriculum offices and support from the Evesham Education Foundation for funding some summer offerings.
The district also completed facilities work ahead of the new school year and will welcome both new staff and returning staff in new roles, the superintendent said. "We welcome all these amazing new staff and returning staff in new roles as we are about to embark on a new year of daily opportunities to help and support students," the superintendent said. The official reported district enrollment of "all 4,667 of them as of today."
The superintendent announced a strategic planning process this fall, to be facilitated by the New Jersey School Boards Association. The process will include three stakeholder meetings; the first meeting is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the DeMacy Cafeteria, the superintendent said.
On routine business, the board approved the consent agenda by roll call. Board members voting yes included Mr. Brown, Ms. Buttermelwitz, Mr. DeMarcy, Ms. Fox and Mr. Thompson; the chair recorded that the motion carried. Earlier in the meeting the board moved into an executive session to consider items 2.2 through 2.4; the motion to enter executive session and approve items 2.2 through 2.4 was seconded by Mr. Marcy and the board said it would reconvene at approximately 7:30 p.m.
The meeting closed after the open public comment period with a motion to adjourn that was seconded and approved.
No legislation, ordinance or contract awards were voted on in open session during the portions of the transcript provided.
