Topgolf approved for Woodbury liquor license; company says it will hire hundreds

The council approved the license by roll call (Council member Stafford: aye; Council member Wilson: aye; Council member Morris: aye; Council member Santini: aye; Mayor Burt: aye).
Topgolf Director of Operations Jordan Campbell told the council the company is “just as excited as Topgolf is to be joining this community” and confirmed plans to open in late fall, saying the project team was “shooting for October.” Campbell said Topgolf has filled most salaried leadership roles and expects to open with about 20 salaried leaders and roughly 375 hourly “playmakers,” noting that number typically falls after the first 90 days. Daniel Christians, counsel for Topgolf, attended and answered legal and procedural questions during the hearing.
Campbell described community engagement plans and local philanthropy tied to the venue, including a Make-A-Wish partnership and a menu item where “every donut hole order, $1, we donate right back to Make A Wish.” He also said the facility’s hiring application process would open in August with new hires starting in October as construction and final staffing continue.
The council opened a public hearing and allowed a brief comment from company representatives before the final vote. No speakers registered opposition to the license during the public hearing. The license approval clears a key regulatory step for Topgolf to complete buildout and begin hiring and operations in Woodbury.
