The Brentwood Emergency Communications District reported it is fully staffed and preparing a major Motorola radio-system upgrade, and its quarterly financial report showed revenue roughly 120–121% higher year over year with expenses at about 89% of budget, officials said at the district's quarterly meeting.
District officials said staffing and technology work together to keep response times low. Kathleen, the district's ECD supervisor, said, "we are fully staffed in dispatch. This is a happy day for us." She added the district's lead dispatcher, Jason Brown, will host a tour this weekend for an international visitor organized by a former director, and that Motorola will perform a multiweek radio-system upgrade that staff do not expect to cause downtime.
The financial summary presented at the meeting said the district's revenue this quarter was "about a 120 about a 121% higher" compared with the same period last year and that expenses were at about 89% of budget, a presenter summarized. No further detail on specific revenue sources or line-item changes was provided in the meeting packet beyond the full financial report on file with the district.
A member of the public praised the dispatch statistics during the supervisor's report, saying the center is "answering on average first ring, 3 seconds after the call connects" and meets a goal of dispatching medical aid within 90 seconds. That comment was not challenged during the meeting.
The board approved the minutes from a prior meeting. The motion to approve was moved by Vice Mayor Little and seconded by Commissioner Travis. The chair called the vote: five voted in favor, none opposed, and Commissioners Donahue and Garas abstained.
No members of the public signed up to speak during the public-comment portion of the agenda.
With no old or additional new business raised, Commissioner Tippen moved to adjourn; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Donahue and the meeting was adjourned by voice vote.
The meeting packet includes the full quarterly financial report and a written status report from the ECD supervisor; the district did not schedule follow-up items or formal directions during the session.
