County staff received commission approval to solicit bids for phase 2 of Owl Creek Park after staff explained they are waiting for final approval from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) on bid documents.
Mike Sumpter, identified in the meeting as parts department staff, told commissioners the county is seeking permission to release solicitations as soon as FHWA signs off so work can be completed before local asphalt plants close in December. Sumpter said the county will publish bid notices in local papers and post them on the county website once approval is received.
A commissioner made a motion to authorize solicitation and a second was recorded; the motion passed. Staff emphasized a tight procurement window and said they will report bid results to the commission at a subsequent meeting.
