Planning staff expect technical reviews for Thornton pipeline and PRPA turbine project; new hearing signs and public input site launched

Jenny Axmaker, planning manager in Larimer County Community Development, updated the Board of County Commissioners July 28 on upcoming planning activity, including technical-review applications for two major cases and outreach changes for hearings.
Axmaker said the Thornton water pipeline technical-review application is expected in early August, and PRPA’s turbine project anticipates submitting later in August. “We’re starting to get information that we’ll be receiving technical review applications for a couple of our 1041 cases that you all reviewed this spring,” Axmaker said, referring to county review authority under state law for certain infrastructure projects.
Axmaker also said the department has introduced new hearing signs and postcards, and that the county’s public-input website now includes hearing updates. She told commissioners there would be hearings later the same day (a 3 p.m. hearing with three consent items and three discussion items, and a 6:30 p.m. hearing with two discussion items) and that staff will return for a future work session with additional details on the outreach tools.
Commissioners asked whether the items were likely to remain on consent; Axmaker said she had not heard anything that suggested movement off consent. No formal actions or votes were taken during the update; staff said they would continue to process technical reviews and public notice according to established procedures.
