Development & Visitors Bureau says bridge banners will be reserved for city use; downtown banners remain available by request

Tracy, executive director of the Defiance Development & Visitors Bureau, told the Defiance City Council on Oct. 7 that the bureau will limit banners on the bridges to city uses because the bridge banners are a different size and more difficult and hazardous for crews to change.
Tracy said the bridge banners are larger and require work in lifts over the bridge, so the bureau hopes to install city banners on those bridge poles once a year and leave them up for longer periods. Banners on Main Street and downtown will continue to be available to community organizations, community groups and schools through scheduling with the Development & Visitors Bureau. Residents and organizations should contact the bureau office (ask for Zeek) to schedule downtown banner installations; Tracy said the banner schedule is not posted on the website and staff can provide details by phone.
Councilmember Corbett and others thanked Tracy and local crews for their work. Tracy said the change is intended to reduce frequent calls for staff to swap banners and to reduce the number of times crews must work in more precarious locations to change bridge banners.
