The Nashville Public Library’s main branch remains closed while staff and outside experts complete additional fire‑safety work discovered during restoration, Library Director Terry told the board on Sept. 16.
Terry said additional work was identified after walls were opened during recent assessments and cleaning to address smoke and soot. “When we do reopen Main, it will be the cleanest that it has been in 25 years,” Terry said, but added, “I don't want to put a date out when we don't know what that date is.” She said independent third‑party inspectors and the fire marshal must certify the work before reopening.
