A district presenter described the program as promoting bilingualism, biliteracy, stronger problem-solving skills and cultural understanding.
Video excerpts included several brief testimonials. One parent said their children caught on quickly: "After one week, we noticed that it started picking up words right away." Another parent, describing academic progress and cultural retention, said: "I'm really proud of the program and what it's doing for her." A student said of the program, "I'm really grateful to be in a dual language program because whenever I grow up, I wanna be a doctor. And if there's any patient who speak pure Spanish, I can help them do the job."
District staff told trustees they will make minor edits and finalize captions before publishing the second video. Administrators also discussed plans to expand dual-language supports at intermediate grades when staffing and resources allow.
