Walker police and fire personnel honored after July 5 resuscitation

The Walker City Commission recognized police officers and firefighters on Aug. 25 for their response to a July 5 cardiac arrest in a city park that officials said resulted in a citizen surviving the emergency.
Chief Banco (identified in the meeting as the speaker presenting the recognition) described a tiered, multi‑agency response: an officer arrived within minutes, began CPR, and was joined by additional police personnel and the fire department to continue life‑saving care. “Police and fire don’t know when they’re gonna play a Super Bowl,” Chief Banco said, describing the unpredictable urgency of emergency response and the hours of training that prepare responders.
City officials named the police personnel honored as Officer Tyler Petty, Officer Jim Zepp, Officer Logan McIntyre and Corporal Andrew Ringling. Fire personnel identified included Firefighter EMT Brad Pricker, Firefighter AT Peyton Tadwell and Brandon Finn (firefighter). The commission paused the meeting so family members could join responders for photographs.
Mayor and commissioners praised the responders and their families for the hours of training and the teamwork that the city said led to a saved life. No additional operational changes or budget actions were announced at the recognition.
