Radio administrator reported a clerical error in an AT&T contract; commissioners voted to nullify the previously approved contract and table a new AT&T amendment to allow staff time to investigate alternatives and confirm costs.
Madison County Commissioners accepted a recommendation to nullify a recently approved AT&T contract after the county's radio administrator said a clerical error made the approved amendment invalid.
"There was a clerical error on their part," James Cleveland, Madison County radio administrator, told the board. Cleveland said AT&T returned the contract and later submitted a different addendum; he also said new information learned Thursday might let the county avoid an extra monthly charge of about $500 if alternatives are available.
The commissioners voted to nullify the previously approved AT&T contract and later voted to table consideration of the newly submitted AT&T amendment until the next meeting so Cleveland could investigate the new information and bring back a recommendation. Both motions were seconded and carried by voice vote.
Meeting discussion clarified that the returned/voided contract contained incorrect endpoint numbers on AT&T's side; there were no changes to pricing in the master agreement presented. Commissioners instructed staff to review the new addendum and return with details at the next meeting.
