Doug Myler, who identified himself as a New Hope volunteer, told the council the coalition brings together Weber County health partners, hospitals and community organizations to provide public training, outreach booths and a community walk at the Ogden Amphitheater. Myler said New Hope conducts QPR training (question, persuade, refer) and distributes resources at community events; he asked the city to place volunteer recruitment information in the city newsletter and on the city website.
City staff said they have Myler’s contact details and can circulate the coalition director’s information and a draft newsletter blurb to city newsletter and website contacts. Myler said the coalition is funded by Intermountain Health care and private donations and that it seeks more volunteers to support community booths and outreach.
Council members thanked Myler, and staff said they would follow up with contact information to add to the city’s outreach channels.
