The board received a financial report and an update on enrollment during the Aug. 11 meeting.
Ms. Kendra (identified in the meeting as the district finance lead) reported fund balances as of July 31: Education Fund $7,162,057.93 (a year earlier $5,996,651.39); Operations Fund $1,771,156.28 (a year earlier $4,760,621.04); Rainy Day Fund $4,164,641.37 (a year earlier $1,068,712.84). She also reported investment interest earned year to date as of July 31 was $279,529.53 compared with $375,724.75 the prior year. Several board members asked clarifying questions; Kendra noted summertime fund fluctuations and that registration fees typically produce a bump in the coming month.
Superintendent Dustin Garing told the board that the district’s current enrollment count was 1,900 students and that about 29 students were recorded as no-shows presently; he and other administrators said some of those records can change as paperwork is completed. Board members discussed the October 1 enrollment reporting process and the significance of that count for state reporting; the board and administration clarified that the October 1 report reflects students “on the books” (enrolled) even if not physically present that specific day.
Administrators said outreach calls to families of students recorded as no-shows were in process.
