Board approves amended joint service agreement with East Central Indiana Special Services District as operations move to Western Wayne

The Franklin County Community School Corporation board approved an amended and restated joint service agreement with the East Central Indiana Special Services District (the co-op) at its Aug. 11 meeting.
The agreement updates language to reflect the move of the co-op’s operational headquarters from Union County to Western Wayne. Superintendent Dustin Garing explained the administrative shift and said Western Wayne’s new facilities make it logical to house the co-op there.
Garing said he expects to step down from the co-op presidency because of the relocation, noting he has been the longest-serving superintendent among the member corporations and that the new housing at Western Wayne reduces travel and logistical overhead. He told the board the changes are primarily wording updates rather than substantive program changes; administrators said trustees were welcome to review the agreement in the meeting packet prior to the vote.
The motion to approve the amended and restated agreement passed by a recorded 6-0 vote (one trustee absent).
