Board appoints Rob Perry to fill District 11 vacancy

The Richland County Board of Supervisors voted to appoint Rob Perry to fill the District 11 vacancy during its August meeting.
Perry, who submitted a letter of interest included in the board packet, stood and addressed the board before the vote, saying most people know him in the community and that he wanted the district to be represented. The motion to appoint Perry carried on a voice vote with all members saying “aye.”
The vacancy had been advertised twice; the county administrator reported the second advertisement produced Perry’s single application, which was circulated to supervisors in advance of the meeting.
The appointment fills the remainder of the term for supervisory District 11. The clerk administered the roll and confirmed the board was properly noticed for the meeting prior to taking action.
