The board then approved an employment agreement appointing Cassandra Jones as assistant superintendent for pupil services.
Human resources presenter Marcela (first name used on the record) said the report included the retirement of payroll specialist Eve Redmond after 22 years of service, changes of assignment and a substantial list of hires that leaves the district fully staffed for opening day. Board members thanked staff for the hiring work and recognized individual service.
Superintendent Risa Saunders nominated Cassandra Jones for the assistant superintendent position, citing her recent work in pupil services and her credentials. Saunders said Jones had been engaged in student discipline work, had the department experience and had obtained eligibility to be a superintendent. The board approved the employment agreement by voice vote.
Trustees expressed confidence that the appointment would help the district manage pupil services and discipline work and noted that the staffing level was a positive achievement ahead of the school year.
