District outlines re-scoped Ken Millen Stadium renovations focused on locker rooms, training and restrooms

The Carlisle Area School District facilities committee reviewed a re-scoped plan for Ken Millen Stadium designed to stay within previously approved funds.

Administrators said the district in February approved a transfer of $3,000,000 for athletic facility improvements; earlier concepts that included a full field house exceeded the available budget. The current plan focuses on renovating usable spaces under the home and visitor bleachers to create eight-to-ten team rooms (roughly 500 square feet each for some home-side teams), improved training-room space, upgraded men's and women's restrooms, storage and a visiting-team locker room.

District staff said benefits include dedicated, all-season spaces for teams, indoor shelter during inclement weather, and elimination of ad hoc winterization or storage use. The visitor-side design also proposes renovating the existing football locker room into multi-use space that can serve fall football and spring track needs and adding team rooms for soccer and lacrosse.

Project next steps include finalizing the design with internal staff and athletic leadership, procuring a construction contract (board approval anticipated in the fall), obtaining permits and targeting construction after the fall sports season. Administrators estimated construction would take about 16—0 weeks. Staff said the renovations would serve both athletic needs and the public during events (restrooms usable by spectators). No formal vote was taken in committee.
