City pursues FAA grant and awards construction and CM contracts for airport taxi‑lane rehabilitation

Airport Manager Tracy Williams told council the project will rehabilitate key taxi‑lane pavements on the west side of the field in three phases (north, center, south). The total project cost is $1,833,182.50; the FAA share is 95% ($1,741,523 planned) and the city share is 5% ($91,660). Williams said the state Department of Aviation is anticipated to cover 72% of the city’s 5% share, leaving an estimated net airport enterprise fund share of about $25,000.
Council authorized the construction management agreement with Century West Engineering in an amount not to exceed $200,367 and authorized a construction contract with JAL Construction not to exceed $1,612,815.50. Williams said the work will begin in the spring construction season (when asphalt plants reopen) and will require coordination with west‑side tenants and staged access so aircraft operators can continue operations; staff will hold stakeholder briefings and advance notices.
Action: Council authorized the FAA grant application and accepted the construction management and construction contracts; staff will schedule phased work with tenant outreach ahead of the construction season.
