The Laramie City Council on Oct. 21 voted 5-0 to adopt Resolution 2025-85, which designates the City of Laramie’s project list for the 2026 specific purpose excise tax (SPET).
The approved SPET project list includes the Laramie Police Department renovation/replacement project, Laramie bridal shelter replacement, Laramie Fire Station 1 replacement, surface water drainage improvements, street projects, the West Bill My Street project, a sidewalk ADA improvement program and recreation center facility maintenance.
In the same meeting the council unanimously approved several related items: a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Albany County and the City of Laramie to create a comprehensive local safety action plan; a professional services agreement with Logan Simpson to develop a downtown development plan; a contract award for a community-wide sports study; and two resolutions for budget amendments. Each of those items was recorded as passing by a 5 to 0 vote.
The meeting record did not specify dollar amounts, contract values, stipulations of the MOU, or which budget lines were adjusted. Council members did not record individual vote names or motion sponsors in the meeting summary.
Staff announced that ballot language is being prepared for a future election; the meeting record did not specify an election date or schedule for the SPET measure.
