South Plainfield student government president reports club fair, athletics and upcoming events

Brianna Liberato, junior class president and student representative to the board, delivered a student update describing recent activities and upcoming events at South Plainfield High School.

Liberato summarized events since the last meeting: a club fair on Sept. 29 that prompted new club signups; a well-attended ESL family night and college-planning night; a student-only blood drive; senior sunrise; and PSAT administration for tenth- and eleventh-graders. She said the district is administering the NJSLA adaptive field test for certain grades and that seniors had cap-and-gown fittings that day.

She also reported ongoing student-organized drives and events: an ongoing nonperishable food drive to support families in need, a bake sale and raffles tied to breast-cancer-awareness fundraising, and future college- and career-planning nights. “I am proud to represent our amazing high school,” Liberato said.

Athletics and extracurriculars

Liberato provided a snapshot of fall sports records and senior-night dates: varsity boys football 3–4, girls volleyball 12–7, boys soccer preparing for GMC tournaments, cross country aiming for top-five finishes at championships, and a seven-game win streak by the girls field-hockey team. She also noted a new Human Geography course and strong AP participation at the high school.
