The Onalaska Plan Commission on Aug. 26 approved a certified survey map (CSM) to subdivide one parcel into two in the Grandview Estates PUD so each side of a twin home can be separately owned.
City planner Katie Aspenson told the commission the property currently contains a twin home — two attached units with a common wall — and the applicant seeks to divide the land along that common wall to create one parcel per unit. Aspenson said the proposed Parcels 1 and 2 meet all dimensional requirements in the R-2 (low-medium density residential) zoning district and that staff recommended approval subject to nine conditions.
Commissioner Eric Archer moved to approve the CSM; Tom Smith seconded. Commissioner Jim Benash asked a clarifying question to confirm the applicant intends for each unit to be a single-family attached dwelling on its own parcel; Aspenson confirmed that was the purpose. The motion passed unanimously.
The applicant is listed as Quincy Giese and the tax parcel referenced is 186630-0. The transcript shows staff prepared nine conditions of approval but did not read all nine into the record during the meeting.
The commission did not provide a timeline for the recordation of the new parcels; the recording and final plat procedures will follow standard La Crosse County recording practices and any conditions set by staff.
