NORONIA HILLS CITY, Aug. 28, 2025
At a work session Monday evening, the Nordonia Hills City School District Board of Education agreed to present and seek approval of the district's fiscal forecast during its State of the Schools event on Oct. 13 so the district can meet an Oct. 15 filing deadline, and discussed moving the November regular meeting to Nov. 24 because several members will attend the state Capital Conference. The board then moved to enter executive session to consider the compensation of public employees; the transcript does not record a vote on that motion.
Board members and staff framed the Oct. 13 State of the Schools as a chance to present budget changes and the six-month forecast together, with one staff member noting the district must approve its initial forecast by Oct. 15 and that the forecasting schedule is now an October and February cycle rather than May and November. The board agreed to schedule a presentation beginning around 6 p.m. for the Oct. 13 event and to hold its regular meeting on Oct. 20 as previously set.
Board members raised logistics for October and said they would combine the forecast presentation with the State of the Schools program so the board could vote on the forecast during that session. The board discussed start times and the likely hour-and-a-half length for the Oct. 13 event. A board member said the two presentations would show district successes alongside the financial details.
On November scheduling, board members said the district has delegate responsibilities at the annual Capital Conference that conflict with the board's usual meeting week. The board discussed moving the November meeting from its previously scheduled date to Nov. 24. A staff member said the agenda will be modified to include formal approval of the Nov. 24 date change.
Before adjourning the work session portion, a board member moved that the meeting enter executive session to consider the compensation of a public employee. The transcript ends after that motion; a second and any roll-call vote were not recorded.
The board also noted a regular public meeting will follow at 7 p.m. at Northfield Elementary School.
