Council approves Socorro High School homecoming parade permit and waives fee

The Socorro City Council on Sept. 4 approved an event permit and waived the fee for the Socorro High School homecoming parade scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 11, starting at 6 p.m.
Staff described the route as beginning at Es Contrias Elementary, proceeding up Alameda and ending at Socorro High School. “The event will take place on Thursday, September 11, and set to begin at 6PM,” a staff member said during the meeting.
Council members asked staff to publicize road closures so residents are aware of detours and timing. A councilmember said they intended to promote the parade and ensure residents were “well aware and informed.” The motion to approve the permit with the fee waiver passed by voice vote; no roll-call tally was provided on the record.
