Trousdale County Commission approves Front Street land purchase, hazard plan and opioid abatement; several rezonings advance

The Trousdale County Commission on an evening session approved a set of resolutions, ordinances and budget amendments, including the purchase of land on Front Street, adoption of the county hazard mitigation plan and entering the county into opioid abatement funding agreements.

The commission voted 15-3 to approve a resolution to purchase property on Front Street using special fund 01/28, a move Mayor Matthew Chambers said would unlock a previously cleared 8.4-acre parcel for potential uses including a nature trail. The commission unanimously adopted the updated county hazard mitigation plan (18-0) and approved joining the current year of opioid abatement agreements (18-0), with funds previously directed to local groups including Hartsville Hope and Healing Alliance and Haven House Mission for Rehabilitation.
