The Enterprise City Council on Aug. 19 approved a slate of routine and time-sensitive items, including an emergency declaration to repair a failed stormwater system on Henderson Street, multiple zoning map corrections, the city’s FY2026 transportation plan and a mutual-aid agreement with Fort Rucker.
Emergency stormwater repair: The council adopted Resolution 8-19-25 declaring a stormwater failure along Henderson Street an emergency and authorized the mayor, through the city engineer, to proceed with repairs and execute necessary documents for work not to exceed $500,000. City Engineer Barry Mott told the council that camera inspections show the lined pipe has failed structurally and that replacing the system under an emergency procurement could cut project time by roughly one-half to two-thirds compared with the standard public-bid schedule.
Rezoning and cleanup ordinances: The council adopted several zoning ordinances intended to correct or align maps with property ownership: - Ordinance 7-15-25B: Rezoned 1.21 acres (103 Fountain Crest Drive) from AG (agriculture) to R1 (low-density single-family). Applicant absent; no public opposition was recorded and the measure passed. - Ordinances 7-15-25C and 7-15-25D: Each ordinance reclassified parcels owned by the Industrial Development Board from R2 (medium-density single-family) to M2 (general industrial) to match adjoining industrially zoned parcels; both passed without public opposition.
Transportation plan: The council adopted the FY2026 Transportation Plan under the Rebuild Alabama Act to allocate estimated FY2026 fuel-tax proceeds (listed in the meeting as about $195,000) for Phase 6 street resurfacing and as match for state/federal roadway grants.
Mutual aid and licensing: The mayor was authorized to execute a mutual-aid agreement between the City of Enterprise and U.S. Army Garrison Fort Rucker for reciprocal firefighting and emergency services support. The council also approved an ABC (restaurant retail liquor) license for a Los Hermanos (Zaragoza Family 2 LLC) location on Northpointe Parkway and granted a street-closure permit for the “Funnel on Easy Street” community event; both passed on voice votes.
Staff items and next steps: The council introduced three planning-commission-recommended ordinances for public hearings to be held Sept. 16 (rezoning requests related to properties on North Industrial Park Road and Glover Avenue). The council also voted to amend hours for a previously approved block party and heard a multi-department update on capital projects and ongoing initiatives.
