St Clair County Schools reports donations, facility repairs and safety training updates

At a recent St Clair County Schools meeting, district staff reported multiple donations, facility repairs and progress on safety and infrastructure projects affecting school operations and community activities.

District staff said the district received a volleyball set, a contractor table saw and other equipment from Jason and Jody Anderson valued at $1,948; $75 from the Minnesota FFA Foundation for an FFA activity account; and $1,000 from the Saint Clair Fire Department. "We received volleyball setters net and a contractor table saw from Jason and Jody Anderson with a total value of $1,948," a staff member said.

The reports also covered a water intrusion over the weekend. "I just I wanna give a quick shout out to Dan Krenke. We had some water in the building, Saturday night, and he stayed here till 5 or 6 in the morning cleaning it up after his walk through," a staff member said, praising district employees who responded.

Staff updated the board on several facility and safety items. The district's security system is nearing completion: "We're about 80% done," a staff member said. Work on the school's track has been delayed but is still expected to be completed when contractors finish remaining tasks, staff said.

On school safety training, staff referenced guidance from the Minnesota School Boards Association and noted that recent training was held in the building for school resource officers and staff. A staff member said the training led by Officer Wyber and others was "wonderful" and that MSBA guidance prompts boards to review their crisis management policy as students return.

Staff said a municipal street project will begin Aug. 4 on Shell Street, with Main Street work to follow; the project is expected to be completed Oct. 31. Staff also noted storm-related roof damage at a local park and a community pancake breakfast hosted by first responders.

Staff mentioned youth athletics schedules: the district's 13-and-under baseball team was scheduled for a championship game the next evening, with a 6:15 p.m. first pitch, and a 14-and-under game was scheduled that night, both subject to weather.
