Board approves joint powers agreement with Dakota County for early‑intervention services

The ISD 191 Board of Education voted unanimously on Aug. 14 to approve a joint powers agreement with Dakota County to provide interagency early‑intervention services for children from birth to age 3.
Amy Petchowski, director of student support services, presented the agreement and said the partnership provides nursing consultation, service coordination and meeting facilitation between district staff and Dakota County interagency teams. Petchowski said the county participates in Region 11 meetings and the JPA supports families of medically fragile infants and toddlers, helping ensure families access available resources.
Petchowski recommended that the board authorize Superintendent Dr. Latonya Daniels to sign the agreement on behalf of the district. The board approved the motion by voice vote.
Ending: Petchowski said the interagency partnership is intended to strengthen service coordination for families with children eligible for early childhood special education and to ensure district staff remain informed of regional protocols and resources.
