Davis County Commission approves series of contracts, sponsorships and staffing amendments

The commission also approved a $10,000 sponsorship receivable from Lifetime Home Loans for Davis Park events Sept. 4 and Sept. 6.
The health department received approval for an amendment to its contract with Excel Environmental Health for software implementation totaling $48,000 over three years ($16,000 per year). Human Resources presented three contract amendments to cover the short-term overlap as two defenders leave the program and one extends to assist with transition: an amendment for Aaron Hill for $62,968 through year-end and two amendments for Nicole McBride and Rebecca (last name not specified in the record) for $56,784 each through year-end. County staff said these changes will require budget reallocations and short-term adjustments but are expected to reduce costs beginning next year.
Public-safety training was also approved: a training agreement for correctional officer certification (BCO) with Carterette and Hill for $16,848, payable from date of hire to completion of training.
Several items included brief staff clarifications on budget authority. For the Utah State University Botanical Center sponsorship, the controller’s office had approved $20,000 and a $10,000 contingency was available; staff indicated the commission would use the contingency to reach the $25,000 payment. For the defender-contract amendments, county staff said budget amendments and reallocations would be made to cover the higher contract amounts this year but projected net savings in the next fiscal year.
All motions for the listed items were moved, seconded and adopted with an affirmative voice vote recorded as “Aye.”
