Clinton County Economic Partnership names Jason Fitzgerald as CEO

Jason Fitzgerald, the newly hired chief executive officer of the Clinton County Economic Partnership, formally introduced himself to the Clinton County Board of Commissioners at the board’s Aug. 21 meeting and described his priorities for the organization.

Fitzgerald told the commissioners he previously served 15 years as president of Penn Strategies, where he worked with municipalities across Pennsylvania to secure grant funding for infrastructure, buildings and parks. He said the Economic Partnership will prioritize tourism promotion — noting the significance of hotel tax revenue to the partnership — and work to bring businesses and jobs to Clinton County while supporting local firms.

Fitzgerald said the partnership has recently interviewed candidates for a new tourism position and emphasized outdoor recreation as a focal point for promotion, mentioning ATVs, hiking and camping as attractions the county can market to increase visitation. He also expressed interest in cooperating with county staff and the partnership to participate in the county’s upcoming comprehensive plan and the Susquehanna greenways plan.

Speaking after Fitzgerald’s introduction, a commissioner said the county’s planning staff will soon begin the comprehensive-plan and Susquehanna greenways planning processes and suggested the Economic Partnership participate.
