District announces 13th annual back-to-school resource fair with backpacks, partners and volunteer needs

The event will also feature cheerleaders and football players and is intended to provide a welcoming start to the school year.
Sims asked for volunteers to help pack bags on the preceding Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the high school. The event itself is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon in the Fridley High School parking lot, Sims said; she also noted that families must be enrolled in Fridley Public Schools to receive backpacks.
Board members and visitors praised the fair as a strong family-engagement event and said they have used it as a model when advising other districts.
