Board members heard an update on the state’s task force on career alignment, an effort to connect college curricula with employment pathways and to increase the odds that graduates find careers in Louisiana.
Doctor Dimley described the task force’s goals: cataloging evidence‑based practices, expanding work‑based learning including internships and undergraduate research, and creating a reporting framework to assess institutions’ progress. “This effort is really trying to find ways in which early and in intentional ways we can help students who are in college to make those connections with Louisiana employers,” Dimley said.
Officials said the task force includes representatives from higher education systems, workforce and economic development offices, industry organizations and students. The group will produce an interim report in January 2026 and a final report thereafter; members said the task force will meet regularly and intends to identify practices that can be replicated across campuses.
Board members asked about membership and student representation and were told each system has a student representative on the committee. The panel emphasized the work is a multi‑agency effort and that the task force is in its early stages; the work will be iterative and campus implementation will vary by institution.
The board voted to receive the update. A motion received and recorded no exceptions on the transcript.
