Brookings resident demands evidence after commissioner's remarks about marine deputy

Cockerham said the issue was not about the sheriff but about “Commissioner Hollinger's refusal to be accountable for and transparent about his blatant accusation” that a Curry County employee “intentionally tried to deceive the Oregon State Marine Board.” She told the board that at a prior public meeting Hollinger said the reports were "fraudulent reports," and she played a brief recording (as stated during her remarks) to show the language he used.
Cockerham said Hollinger had claimed to have evidence supporting the accusation and called on him to reveal that evidence to the public. She said she had repeatedly pressed the issue at prior public comments and that other commissioners' silence also avoided accountability.
No county action was recorded in response during the meeting; the board moved on after Cockerham concluded her comments.
