Later in the meeting the board voted unanimously to approve using ARPA-enabled funds as the county match for two grant awards supporting local trail projects: a Deep River State Trail feasibility/match grant and a Harborside/Harbor State Trail-related improvement grant. The county finance director described the ARPA-enabled fund as the source proposed for the required local matches, and staff said the projects fit the grant criteria.
At the end of the open session the board moved into closed session to consult with counsel under North Carolina law; the closed session was taken by motion and second and recorded as such in the minutes.
